“Reluctant To Rebuff M.P ”

(NZ. Press Association) LEVIN, Nov. 17. The licensee of the Oxford Hotel was reluctant to rebuff a man who was on the premises after hours as the man was in the company of a member of Parliament, it was stated in the Magistrate’s Court, Levin, today. The licensee, lan Crawford Cooper, was convicted of selling liquor after hours and was fined £5. His barman, Claude Reid, for supplying liquor after hours, was fined £5. A Levin resident was convicted and fined £2 on a charge of being found unlawfully on licensed premises after hours.

A charge of being on the premises after hours was called against two other men, but the police stated that in one case the summons had not been served. Both cases were adjourned until December 21.
