QUEEN IN GHANA
Dinner Party At Castle (N.2'.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ACCRA, Nov. 17. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are due to visit Ehnina Castle, one of the loveliest on the west coast of Africa, today. They will drive 100 miles to the castle, which is on the Cape Coast in Ghana’s western region. Last night, the Queen gave a private dinner party at Chrisitiansborg Castle, where the Royal couple are staying during their visit to Ghana. The Duke attended a banquet given by the Ghana Academy of Learning, of which he is president. Earlier, the Queen and the Duke, accompanied by President Kwame Nkrumah and his wife, visited the new Ghana port of Tema, 17 miles from Accra, and inspected preliminary work on the Volta River dam scheme at Akosombo. ■ The party drove for several hours in the hottest weather they have encountered so far on the tour—about 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
Antarctic Trip.—A party of eight Australians is t now making a two-month trip over the Antarctic ice cap to study features of geological and glaciological interest, the External Affairs Department announced today. They left Mawson Base on November 7 with two tractor trains hauling sledges, scientific equipment, power supply, welding plant, fuel and vehicle parts.—Canberra, Nov. 17.
