GARDEN AREAS NAMED
The names of members of the first Christc h u r c h Domains Board will be perpetuated in areas of the Botanic Gardens, the City Council agreed on Tuesday evening. The front lawn will be named the Armstrong lawn, in memory of Mr J. F. Armstrong, the “father” of the gardens, and other lawns will be named Harper. Stafford. Murray-Aynsley. Potts, and Hall. Distinctive place names for sections of the gardens are considered desirable for the preparation of the gardens centennial book. Two other members of the first board have their names recorded in Beswick’s walk and Harman’s grove.
