Boxing FIGHT BETWEEN SCANLAN, SMITH
Previous Decision Rescinded (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 16. The middle-weights. T. Scanlan, the few Zealand champion, and J. Smith, the California State titleholder, will meet in a return bout at Auckland. The secretary’ (Mr O. Shackleford) said in a telephone interview today that the Auckland Boxing Association had rescinded a previous decision not to rematch the pair. Scanlan caused an upset when he knocked out Smith in the twelfth and final round of their bout at Carlaw Park last week. Mr Shackleton said his executive had resolved that there would be no further announcement on policy or future bouts until ’after Scanlan’s fight with the Ghajaaian, J. Malfaih, at Carlaw Park next Thursday.
