TROTTING LOOKAWAY SHOULD WIN AGAIN

Addington First Leg Tomorrow Lookaway has been penalised six yards for his win in the Ollivier Handicap last week and that should not be sufficient to stop him winning again in the Allan Matson Handicap at Addington tomorrow. The Allan Matson Handicap is the main race for pacers and the first leg of the double on the third day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s cup meeting. Lookaway’s win last week was much too decisive for excuses to be offered for the beaten horses. He is the best handicap horse racing at the meeting and he has improved considerably at each appearance this season.

Lookaway finished fourth in the New Zealand Cup and as well as his winning run last Friday, he finished wttb a great run for fifth in the New Zealand Free-for-all He stood flat-footed at the start and was badly checked inside the first two furlongs His effort to finish so close up was a feature of the race. Patchwork and Lady Belmer will again form a strong bracket. Patch-work finished fourth in the Ollivier Handicap after being well bask most of the way. If she can hold a handy position tomorrow, she should be harder to beat. No line could be gained on Lady Belmer in the Ollivier Handicap as she was eliminated in a mix-up before the end of two furlongs. In the free-for-all site did well for a non-sprinter to finish fourth. Lady Belmer looks well and ehe is overdue for a win. Scottish Command was pulled up after a mix-up in the Ollivier Handicap last Friday, but he paced a grand race for second to Cardigan Bay in the free-for-all. He was third in the New Zealand Cup and if he races as well again tomorrow, he should be close up Guiseppe finished third in the Ollivier Handicap. He is rasing over his favourite distance and with reasonable luck, he should again be prominent. Aldora has struck a solid patch of form and he must be respected. He beat all but Lookaway in the Ollivier Handicap and from the front again, he must enter calculations. Blue Prince is an interesting newcomer to the field. His form in weaker company has been outstanding and good enough to give him a place chance. Problem Horse Sun Chief does not simplify calculations for this race. He finished seven'll in the New Zealand Cup when virftually having has first race for a

year. Lack of solid preparation told against him over the final furlong after he had looked a winning prospect at the straight entrance. If that race has taken, no serious toll, he couid be fitter tomorrow and one of his better races would give him a chance. Snsokeaway, Samantha. Johnny Guttar and Diamond Hanover appeal most of the others, but their chances of finishing in front of Lookaway are not highly rated. Scottish Light will be a firm favourite for the twomile Le Lievre Handicap, the second leg of the double. Scottish Light finished well from a good way back in the field at the half-mile to beat ail but Cardigan Bay in the Final Handicap on New Zealand Cup day.

Scottish Light is a better stayer than sprinter and he Should manage the two miles in this race better than most of his rivals. King Hal and Ballista will form a papular bracket. Bath have been placed at the meeting and they look ready to race prominently. King Hal was a little disappointing when third to Cardigan Bay and Scottish Light on the first day of the meeting. He should be a better horse tomorrow and could be harder to beat. Fine Form Ballista has shown fine form at times. He was a good third to Zenith and Flying Note at the end of a fastrun 13 furlongs last Friday. He looks reasonably well placed on 12 yards. Zenith, the backmarker on 36 yards, needs a win to be eligible for the Auckland Cup. If the pace is slack early, she should make up her handicap without too much efltort and in her present form her chances of success must be highly rated. The four horses sharing the front mark with Scottish Light have done little of note lately and a win for any of them would be a major surprise. Jay Ar and Kingsdown Patch are two capable pacers on 12 yards, but they, too, would have to improve on their recent efforts to be much of a threat. Gay Alabama and Waitaki Child, on 24 yards, look better prospects, but they will be hard pressed to catch Scottish Light.
