EVERY SIZE OF TURKEY
Smithfield Show (Special Cripdt N.Z.P.A.) RONDON, Nov. 14. Every size of turkey from 51b to 251 b will be on display at the pre-Christmas turkey show at Smithfield Market. It is being held to give shop owners and retailers an idea of what type of bird will be available to them this Christmas, the "Daily Express” says. - Turkeys will be plentiful and cheap and the quality will be better than at any time since the end of the war. "Producers have been specialising for the last three years in a small weight turkey around 51b to 71b. The demand for the birds is so great that farmers cannot cope with the orders from shops,” it says. One of the big advances in the turkey business has been the development of quick - frozen* oven - ready birds. This year around 6,000,000 turkeys will have come from farms by Christmas and more than half that number will be quickfrozen.
