MERGER PLAN

Powers’ Space Research

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 15. British Aircraft Corporation representatives visiting New Zealand said today they understood there would soon be a merger between the United Kingdom, France and West Germany to combine in a space investigation research programme.

They thought the possible merger had reached an advanced stage, they said. If the project went ahead, a space rocket Would be composed of the Blue Streak as a booster, the French Veronique as the second stage, and West Germany would provide the third stage. It seemed, the representatives added, that the space programme would concentrate on an instrument capsule, rather than sending a man into space. It apgeared the United Kingdom lovernment was unlikely to duplicate the United States space programme.
