Trip By Dinghy Down Waiau
Three members of the Christchurch Canoe Club returned to the city last evening after completing a journey by 12ft rubber dinghy down the Waiau river to Parnassus. They are Messrs I. Boyd and J. Copland and Miss J. Boyd, who began their journey from the Ferry bridge, near Hammer, on Saturday afternoon and spent the night at Leslie Hills. The river, very high and muddy on Saturday, had dropped several feet by Sunday. Yesterday morning the party continued to the Waiau bridge and negotiated a stretch made dangerous by snags, without mishap.
