Magistrate’s Court Inconsiderate Driver Fined

Bumper to bumper, two cars' were driven backwards and forwards several times in Cathedral square, on August 12, Constable K. M. Gallagher told Mr E. A. Lee, S.M., iti the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Charged with using a motor-car in an inconsiderate manner, Gary Eric Eden was fined £5. Eden did not appear.

Constable Gallagher said he watched the offence while sitting in a patrol car outside Tivoli Theatre at 7.45 pjn. He went over to the drivers and stopped them. A passenger In the car driven by Michael Stanley Hall, on Buchanans road, would have suffered serious injury when it ran into the back of a truck on July 25, said Constable G. E. Hoare. The car had its left side torn off.

Hall, a 19-year-old assistant meat inspector (Mr L. G. Holder). pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving without due care and attention. He was convicted and ordered to pay costs. For having no warrant of fitness, Hall was fined 10s. He pleaded guilty. Hall said his attention was attracted by a car behind. He glanced in the rear vision mirror; next thing there was an impact.
