CHARING CROSS SCHOOL
75th Anniversary Celebrated
About 170 past pupils and visitors attended the seventyfifth anniversary of the Charing Cross School, in the Malvern County, held on Saturday. Two first-day pupils. Mr I. Smith and Mrs H. Barrett, who are brother and sister, were present. Mrs Barrett cut the anniversary cake and was presented with a posy by the youngest girl at the school, Judy Shipley.
A luncheon was held in the school grounds and photo, graphs were taken in the afternoon. The celebrations ended with a dance in the evening. Guests included the member of Parliament for Selwyn (Mr J. K. McAlpine): the chairman of the Malvern County Council (Mr M. E. Jenkins); the Education Board member for the dis. trict, Mr D. Waghdrn; Miss C. Slade. the scripture teacher; and the headmaster (Mf C. O. Gillam).
