TROTTING Taurua Will Be Solidly Supported At Kaikoura

Taurua, an impressive winner on the first day of the recent Oamaru meeting, will be strongly fancied to win again at the Kaikoura Trotting Club’s annual meeting today. He is a candidate for both the Publicans’ and Memorial Handicaps.

Both races have drawn similar fields and performances in the Publicans’ Handicap should be a good guide to prospects later in the day.

Smoke Screen has not finished further back than sixth in his three races so far this season. The Smokev Hanover five-year-old looks to be a sound prospect for an early win. which could come today. Simmonds. Robyn, Gold Lady. Bonnieburn. and Company Road could be the hardest for Taurua and Smoke Screen to beat in the Publicans’ Handicap, and Runfree. Simmonds, Gold Lady, and Hancove could offer most opposition to them in the Memorial Handicap. The double will be run on the Kaikoura Cup and the Keenan Handicap.
