High Standard In Competitions
A higher standard forrnance than in
years was shown by competitors in the 1961 physical training competitions, held by the Canterbury battalion of the Boys' Brigade on Saturday evening, at Linwood Intermediate School, A teat competition was set by judges of the physical education branch of the Internal Affairs department, who commended the contestants for the excellence of their work. Results were:— John Burns Cup: 19th Company (St Stephen's Presbyterian) 1, Ist Company (Colombo street Baptist) 2. llth Company (Wilsons road Baptist) 3. Mat work.--Senior: llth Company (Wilsons road Baptist) 1, 19th Company (St. Stephen's Presbyterian) 2, Ist Company (Colombo street Baptist) 3. Junior: Ist Company (Colombo street Baptist) 1, 3rd Company (St Albans Presbyterian) 2, 19th Company (St. Stephen’s Presbyterian) 3. Horse Work,—Senior: Ist Company (Colombo street Baptist) 1, 19th Company (St. Stephen’s Presbyterian) 2, llth Company (Wilsons road Baptist) 3. Junior: 21st Company (St. Martins Presbyterian) 1, 27th Company (Oparwa Methodist) 2, 3rd Company (St Albans Presbyterian) 3. Pyramids. Senior: llth Company (Wilsons road Baptist). Junior: 21st Company (St. Martins Presbyterian). Parallel Bars.—Senior: Ist Company (Colombo street Baptist).
