United Nations
Sir,—lf "Truth Will Prevail” wiil only face the facts of international life he will realise that the Philippines and Liberia, though nominally “independent,” are in reality still tightly bound in economic and political subjection to the United States. They are no more independent of the United States than the East Germans are independent of the Russians, for American economic imperialism is just as destructive of personal liberty as is the military imperialism of the Soviet Powers. The point at issue is not American or Soviet colonialism, but American dominance of what should be a truly international organisation, to a degree which precludes the discussion of American colonies abroad and the apartheid laws which exist in 29 states of the present United Nations home. The proposed transfer of the entire oiganisation to Berlin—making Berlin the world's first international city—is a reform which could be the means of saving the organisation and the world from disaster.—Yours, etc., 7 F.C. October 17. 1961.
