Riccarton Bush
Sir,—Either there has been a considerable tidying-up of KAceartan Bush since the visit that inspired the strictures of “Irate Ratepayer,” or those strictures appear, on the strength of a visit made within a few hours of the publication of that letter, somewhat exaggerated. Admittedly, the main gate badly needs paint and the side gate has gone missing; but one found no weedinfested paths or fallen trees blocking the way; and even if one had, what more natural in an area of native bush? latter, mirabile dictu, was virtually non-existent, and as for fallen leaves, the Kauri street approach seemed more than reasonably dear, while the grass between the house and bush was cut and tidy.—Yours, etc., M.T.
