Two exceptional trials, one by Outcome and the other by Far I Step, over-shadowed ail others at Awapuni today when final trials for Trentham were held. Outcome ran a winning trial for the Wainui Handicap when he ran a fast six furlongs with Arid, and Far Step went brilliantly over five furlongs in what* also looked to be a winning gallop. Ma CSierie ran a splendid trial for the Wainui Handicap, and others to please Included Bagush Jovial James. Copper Joy. El Ganador. D Day. Silver Theme and Stetson. D Day’s half-mile with Disorder was the best time at that distance. Most fast work took place on the No. 1 grass, which was veryfast. Outcome (Hulme) was a length better than Arid (Mullane) at the end of six furlongs in Imin 15sec. the last three in 36Jsec, and the last half in 49 3-ssec. Outcome is usually lazy in training, which made his effort all the more pleasing. Arid also pleased. His race in the Shorts Handicap will do him good. Bagush (Lane), at a big weight disadvantage, shaded Jovial James (Foster), with a length to Yeti (Lewis) at the finish of five furlongs In Imin 3sec, the last three in 36 3-ssec. Finished Strongly El Ganador (Green) and Heirloom (Lane) ran together over six furlongs in Imin 16 2-ssec. the last three in 38sec. They finished strongly. If ever there was a winning gallop it was Far Step's. Ridden by V. J. Sellars, Far Step was restrained to teat Apa (Mullane) by half a length at the end of five furlongs fa Imin 1 2-ssec, the last three In 36 2-ssec. This brilliant galloper is improving all the time. Rahul (Sellars) had something to spare at the end of five furlongs in Imin 3 2-ssec. the last three in 37 4-ssec. She looks fit. D Day (Dombraeki) and Disorder (Carter) were travelling under good holds at the Completion of half a mile in 49sec, the last three in 35 4-ssec. It was the best half-mile of the morning. Ma Cherie (Aitken) worked from the mile, increasing the .pace from the half, which took her 49 3-s»ec the last three in 36 3-ssec, with Ballet Boy (Hefferman). The improving Sir Loin (O'Neill) took 53 l-ssec for his half-mile, the last three in 39 2-ssec. Slight Edge Copper Joy (Miss Lee) held a slight edge on Orakawa (Aitken ) at the finish of half a mile from a standing start fa 49 2-ssec. the last three ta 35 4-s<ec. It was a fine effort by both. Kildaro rSellars). which will race fa the Shorts Handicap, was never at top over half a mile, which she completed ta 52see. the last three ta 37 4-ssec. Flaxbourne (Mahoney) strode easily over three furlongs in 40 2-ssec. Corsican (Tantrum), looking improved with last week's race, took 39sec. Silver Theme (Sellars) ran brilliantly to teat Harvest Fair (Mullane) by a length over three furtdngs ta 31 4-ssec. Silver Theme, a half-sister to Silver Pelt, is improving all the time. She will make her debut ta the Wellesley Stakes. Blue Rock and Colchis will not be starters on Saturday. Blue Rock is to be turned out until next winter. ,
