New Group At Sumner
Sumner Round Table, the third Round Tkble in Christchurch, was inaugurated at a meeting on Wednesday evening. Sponsored by Christchurch Round Table No 1, the Sumner Round Table draw* iu members from th* area between St. Andrew's Hill and Lyttelton. Mr D. Cook wa* elected chairman, and Mr D. Gallagher vice-chairman. Mr E. L. Wataon is secretary of the new group Round Table is a nonpolitical and non-sectarian international organisation of voting business and professional men between the ages of 18 and 40. It was formed in Britain in 1928 by a Norwich Rotarian who felt auch an organisation was needed to bring young men ot different occupations together. Through fellowship, community service and discussion their aim is to cultivate the nigbeat ideal* it business, professional and civic affairs.
