EXTRADITION SOUGHT
Escaper From Australia (NE Press Assoetatton) AUCKLAND, Ort. 12. The State of Victoria acted today to seek the extradition of Maurice James Watson, aged 35, of Melbourne, who was arrested by Auckland and Rotorua detectives at the Waipa State Sawmill, Rotorua, last week. Watson escaped from a prison in Melbourne. Acting on instructions from , Victoria, DetectiveSergeant Frank Parker, of Auckland, today obtained a provisional warrant from Mr L. G. H. Sinclair, S.M, under Part 2 of the Fugitives Offenders’ Act. He executed it on Watson, who later appeared on this charge and the original arresting charge of being a prohibited immigrant, before Mr J. W. Kealy, SM.. in the Magistrate’s Court. He was remanded to appear again on October 19.
