INVITATION TO ATHLETES
Two Meetings In December
Four of New Zealand's foremost athletes—M. G. Halberg. P. G. Snell. D. S. Norris and Miss D. Porter—who are to take part in a meeting at Waimate on Taxing Day, have been invited to compete in Christchurch on December 23 and 30. It was also decided at last evening’s meeting of the Canterbury centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to ask the athletes if they would be interested in Australian competition to give the centre the opportunity of inviting Australian athletes. If the athletes were available for the proposed meeting on December 23. said the centre's delegate to the Canterbury Amateur Sports Federation (Mr R. A. Linton), Olympic Day would be held the following day and athletes would be asked to demonstrate their skills. Mr E. Lunn was nominated by the centre for the presidency of the New Zealand association. Mr Lunn was recently appointed a life member of the centre.
