Cook Strait Record
(VJ4. Press association) WELLINGTON, Oct 12. Rail-air freighting over Cook Strait reached a new record yesterday with 60 Bristol freighter flights in 28 return services between Wellington and Blenheim and two return hauls between Wellington and Nelson. From Wellington 157 tons of goods were flown to Blenheim and 96 tons were brought back. The Nelson loads were 10 tons each way, the day’s total being 273 tons. Eggs from the South Island totalled 26.100 dozen. A thousand cases of early tomatoes and cucumbers from Auckland growers went south.
