Familiar Words
“There is now no skill in the game of Bagby football. Players can kick how and whom they like; tf they kick a man to death so much the worse for the man. Football used to be a game of skill and an amount of physical exertion, hot now it io a game of sheer brute force a matter who can kick and hit the hardest,” Those words mold have been uttered by any present-day cynic. In actual fact they were said many years ago—in June, 1883. The speaker was a County Coart judge, daring the bearing of a case when Ottey Rugby Club flayers were sued for trespass and damage at the Wheatsheaf Hotel, Hktey. on the occasion of a visit to Bktey to meet the home team, which failed to put te an appearance.
