THORACIC UNIT TRANSFER
The thoracic unit of the North Canterbury Hospital Board, until now housed in the Christchurch Hospital, will be transferred to the Princess Margaret Hospital from Monday. Eighteen beds in Ward A2 have been allocated to the unit, and patients will be called in progressively next week. The surgeon in charge. Mr H. T. Thompson, who is full-time thoracic surgeon to the board, will be given accommodation in the Princess Margaret Hospital to replace his office at the Christchurch Hospital. Eventually, he will see the thoracic outpatients referred to him at the Princess Margaret Hospital instead of at the St. Andrew's clinic. The beds formerly occupied by thoracic patients at the Christchurch Hospital are now being used by the radiotherapy department.
