Harriers GREYMOUTH RELAY
Record Time Likely The Olympic Club seems almost certain to complete the Canterbury harrier season with an unbeaten record in A grade racing. For the final event of the provincial inter-club season, the Greymouth two-man relay today. Olympic has entered a powerful combination, J. K MacDonald and R. J. Stevens, who have shared most of the major individual honours in previous races. These two runners were also first and second in the Canterbury championships. No other club can field a combination of anything like comparable strength and only some unfortunate circumstance could lead to the defeat of MacDonald and Stevens. Last year the combination of MacDonald and R. Farmer set a new race record of 76min 21.8 sec for the 16 miles. Given anything like reasonable conditions, MacDonald and Stevens could record even a,, better time today. Run in five stages over a block lap. the event is unusual in that the competitors run alternate sections, so that one runs three laps and the other two. A similar four-lap race for juniors will be decided over 12 miles.
