Spark Gap For Motukarara

The promising three-year-old trotter, Spark Gap, which has had a win and a second from two starts, should go close to winning again in the Halswell Handicap, the main race for trotters at the Banks Peninsula Trotting Club’s annual meeting at Motukarara today.

Spark Gap trotted a grand race to beat all but Super Glow in the Chertsey Handicap at Ashburton last week and had he not drifted so far at the start, he would have made the winner’s task more difficult.

Robert Medoro has finished second in his three starts this season and is overdue for a win. Spark Gap beat him at Methven and should finish in front of him

again, but Robert Medoro looks a sound place prospect. Tracey's Pal will appreciate the firm track at Motukarara. He looks a fit horse and is due to return to form in his next few races. Mina Lass, Mayfair Star, La Gloria. Oakleigh Lad and Arizona Gal should do best of the remainder.

The double will be run on the Banks Peninsula and Paparua Handicaps, Southern Cross and Sarona forming a likely combination.

Fair weather is forecast for today. The track is reported to be in splendid order.
