BRITAIN’S BUTTER
“Quotas May Be Set” (N Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) COPENHAGEN, Oct. 6. Britain’s butter imports would be controlled by a quota system if a suggestion due to come up shortly was accepted, the financial daily ' Boersen” reported in Copenhagen today. It said the quota system would be raised at a meeting of the International Federation of Agricultural Producers due to be held in Paris on October 13. The I.F.A.P. meeting would follow “not very positive" talks in the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade started after Denmark and New Zealand protested against butter dumping on the British market. “Boersen" said Danish producers in principle opposed a quota system “which could bring recognition of butter deliveries from dumping countries.”
