Hagley Park Gates
Sir,—The new gates at the Riccarton road entrance to Hagley Park and the Botanical Gardens have been greatly admired. The thanks of the people have been expressed to Mr W. S. Mac Gibbon for his generosity and kindness. May I go a little further back and pay tribute to Councillor W. Olds for the work and drive which he contributed to this object? Some months ago I spoke to Mr Olds about the dilapidated old gates and he immediately examined them and, with his usual drive and initiative, found the right man to supply the means. So a word of thanks to Mr W. Olds from the R.S.A. bowlers, the Hagley golfers and the United Oe.
