SCULPTOR’S DEATH
Sir William Reid Dick (N iZ.P. A .-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, October 2. Sir William Reid Dick, the 82-year-old Royal Academician and the Queen's Sculptor-in-Ordinary for Scotland, died at his London home yesterday, it was announced today. He was also sculptor to King George VI, from 1938 to 1952. Sir William Reid Dick was bora in Glasgow in 1879 and began his career as a stonemason. He later studied sculpture at the Glasgow School of Art. He became president of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and a trustee of the Tate Gallery. He married in 1914 and had one son and two daughters.
