RIDER FOR BLUE ERA

The connexions of the New Zealand-bred colt Blue Era are having difficulty in securing a suitable jockey for him in the Caulfield Guineas on Saturday week and the Victoria Derby on November 4. The Sydney jockey G. Moore has taken the mount on the Sydney three-year-old King Briain in both those races and the Victorian jockey G. Lane will ride New Statesman. Blue Era was left without a jockey when M. Schumacher was disqualified for life after he lost the £lO,OOO AJ.C. Derby on Saturday on a protest when riding Blue Era. The Derby winner Summer Fair’s trainer, L. J. O’Sullivan, said today that the colt will leave for Melbourne at the end of the week and will have hft first start there lit the Caulfield Guineas. T. Hill will, have the mount on Summer Fair in the Guineas and the Victoria Derby. He cannot make the weight for the colt in the Caulfield Cup and the former New Zealand light-weight, W. A. Smith, will have the mount in that event
