Du Pont Holding In G.M.

The Federal Government has filed in the United States District Court a proposal that the Du Pont Company divest itself of its 63 million shares in General Motors by sales on stock exchanges or other methods chosen by the company.
The stock is currently valued at about 3150 million dollars and represents abou* 23 per cent, of General Motors stock.
A Federal Judge directed last July that E I. Du Pont De Nemours and Company, and its subsidiary Christiana Securities Company, file a stock divestiture programme within 60 days and that the Government file within 90 days. Du Pont filed on September 1.
Wheat Sales. Australia sold more than 900,000 tons of wheat overseas during August and September, including 250,000 tons to China —Melbourne. October 3.
