Approval Of Use

Boring poles may be used again, with certain restrictions, on pacer* and trotters. This was decided at a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Trotting Conference in Chrtatehurcfa last Friday. The New Ziaitand Trotting Owners' and Breeden* Association wrote to the executive asking that they reconsider the use of boring poles, to be built to certain Ipedfications. and that it be left to the discretion Of th* stipendiary steward* to decide which horae* were eligible to use them. Boring poles of varying types wer* used in New Zealand for a time, but several of the poles werq unsatisfactory and after a few mouth* trainers were banned from using them in race*. Boring poles are used exteoalvely in the United States. Cameron to T. E. Webb, of Timeru, was approved. The transfer from V. S. Heffernan of his interest in th* horses, Basha FeUka, Irish King and Stylish George was approved. New C*mmUto*z—Because of the difficulty ot the licensing committee in obtaining decision regarding applications for licence* from the Nelson, Blenheim and Kaikx>ura districts, it w*» decided to act up an additional advisory licensing committee to serve those districts. Its members will be Mease* H. J. Hewson, W. J. Murray and J. T. HUL Representative*.—The president (Mr W. H. Roche), the Novtia IriAnd vtoe-presMefii (Mr R. J. Rolle), and the honorary treasurer (Mr O. Hutetofnaon), wece appointed to represent the conference at the Inter-Dominion Trotting Conference and the championship meeting to be held in Perth next February. T.AJB—Mr R. Lewi*, st Auckland, waa appointed to fill a vacancy on the Totalisator Agency Board. He replaces Mr J. E. Farrell, of Oamaru, who wap * HM—her of the board for many year*. Further Term.—D. T. Lilburne, a disqualified person under the Gaming Act, who had been asked to show cause why he should no* be dealt with under Rule'33* (2), was fined the sum of £3 and disqualified for a further period ot aix months. Lilburn* was originally disqualified for 10 year* from February 14. 1057. Annual Meeting/—The next annual meeting of the conference will be held at Wanganui on July 11, 1982. Reteru* Club.—The Rotorua Club was granted permission to hold a night equalisator meeting at the Claudetand* Raceway, Hamilton, on October 28.
