Racing WARD RIDES IN SYDNEY
Hurried Flight By Jet (N.Z. Preaa AMx.— CowripM) SYDNEY, Oct. 2. The former Sydney jockey, A. Ward, made a 890 mile* per hour daah by jet aircraft from Singapore to ride Johnno in today's <lO,OOO Metropolitan Handicap. He landed at Sydney Airport juat before I.SO p.m. today with a little over two hour* to th* rtart of the race. Ward was given fast treatment by Customs official*. A ear was waiting to whiak him to Randwick. Th* Sydney trainer,. J. Green, »ent an urgent request to Ward to replace the jockey, M. Schumacher, who was booked to ride hi* mount* in the Gimcrack Stakes and the Metropolitan today. Schumacher was disqualified for Ute on Saturday for foul riding in the Derby at Randwick. Johnno was unplaced.
