COMMERCIAL Share Prices Ease In Quiet Market
Prices for New Zealand shares were weak when the market opened for the week’s trading yesterday. These \vere nearly twice as many falls as rises. The falls were mainly among the leading shares. Forest Products, down 9d at 35s 9d, made one of the sharpest falls. Bartholomew Umber, in first business for three months, fell 2s to 335. Victoria Laundry were 3d down at 12s but the B shares, in first business for more than two months, fell 6d to 12s. Dominion Farmers’ Institute and Heards made the day’s best gains among New Zealand shares. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile.had first New Zealand business for a month, rising Is to 36s 6d. National Mortgage were also firmer, but Wright, Stephenson eased. Colonial Sugar Refinery eased further to £55. Rises and falls among overseas shares were fairly evenly divided.
