SKELTONS’ SUCCESS
Nine Wins At Westport
(From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT, Oct. 2. Members of the Skelton family won nine of 12 galloping races at the Westport Jockey Club’s two-day meeting at the weekend. Today the Skeltons won six of the eight races in the programme —the other two events were trotting races. On the first day F. H. Skelton, who did not do much riding last year, returned to the winning list on Nimbus Cloud in the Cliff Thomas Stakes No. 1, His brother, R. J. Skelton, won the next event, the Roche Handicap, on Julloch and then th* youngest member of the family, Max, rode Llantana home in the Cliff Thomas Stakes No. 2. Today, W. D Skelton, who had travelled from Wellington over the week-end, won the on-course double and first two races, th* Powell Stakes and Douglas Handicap, on Nimbus Cloud and Tocsin respectively, and then took the last gallop of the day, the Dalray Hack Handicap, on Mon Roi. R. J. Skelton won th* main event, the Craig Handicap, on Subside and then the Menzies Handicap on Silver Wood.
M. J. Skelton rode Llantans to his second win of the mooting in the Powell Stakes No. 2. F. H. Skelton did not ride today.
