FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone over northern New Zealand is moving eastwards and a cold front is moving on to the south of the South Island from the west. Forecast.— Marlborough.—Fresh to strong north-westerlies, gale force about Cook Strait; weather fine and mild apart from showers late in the day in the northern Sounds. Outlook: fine. Nelson.—Fresh northerlies developing with increasing cloud and showers late in the day; moderate temperatures. Outlook: fine. West Coast.—Moderate to fresh northerly winds backing north-westerly; overcast with periods of rain; moderate temperatures. Outlook: showery. Canterbury.—North-westerlies, strong at times this morning, but winds becoming moderate and variable during the afternoon; showers in the alps and a few isolated showers elsewhere in the afternoon, otherwise partly cloudy; temperatures mild. Outlook: Partly cloudy.
