Grandstand Makes £B7
"The Press” Special Service HASTINGS, October 2. Mr G. Baird, of Napier, went to an auction sale of buildings at the Napier Park Racing dub course at Greenmeadows out of curiosity—and left as the owner of the 85-year-old main grandstand. He does not know what he will do with it The stand, like toe rest of toe buildings, was sold surprisingly aheap. Mr Baird paid £B7 for toe 3700-square-foot building. A smaller stand sold for £7O and toe totalisator building fetched £75. The photo-finish tower brought £45, toe stewards’ stand £OO, toe winning post £l, toe semaphore board £lO, the women’s cloakroom £75, toe men’s toilet £lO and toe patrol stewards’ box £l. Three flagpoles ■were sold for £9 and two weather vanes for £9. A set of brush hurdles was told for £6 and toe heavier padded hurdles for £l9. The club is abandoning its Greenmeadows course and is now racing ait Hastings.
