Torrid Forward Play
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON N„ Oct 1. Torrid forward play was the keynote of the representative Rugby match between Taranaki and Manawatu at Palmerston North on Saturday Taranaki was better than Manawatu in every department After leading 16-3 at halftime, Taranaki won by a handsome margin of 29-8, but it was not a handsome victory. On two occasions, the referee, Mr F. G. M. Parkinson, issued warnings, once calling the two captains together for a vigorous talk. A crisis was reached after 31 minutes in the second half when Mr Parkinson ordered the Taranaki captain. I H Macdonald, from the field.
