SCULPTURES STOLEN

A.-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, Sept. 20 Sculptures and paintings valued at 130,000 dollars were stolen today by armed men who took over a truck, kidnapped the driver, and drove him around for three hours, police said. The art works included sculptures by Picasso and Henry Moore. The Moore work was “Mother and Child.” valued at 26.000 dollars. The art works had arrived by air from England a week ago. and were consigned to a Joseph Hirshman, of Connecticut. They were hi-jacked while the truck driver was taking them into a warehouse for examination by Customs officials. police said. The driver, Michael Jiminez, did not know his cargo was a valuable one, according to the police They said he had thought he was carrying only about 5000 dollars worth of shoes.
