Duties will commence early in 1962. j The School of English, under Professor H. J. Oliver, is responsible not only for the teaching of English within the Faculty of Arts, towards the B.A and higher degrees, but also for Instruction in English as part of the compulsory Humanities programme followed in this University by undergraduates in Faculties other than Arts. Australian and American Literature are included in the courses where appropriate; provision is also made for the study of Language. For a Senior Lectureship, exEerience Ln University teaching i necessary, together with a higher degree or a record of publication in the chosen field: for a Lectureship the minimum requirement is a higher degree or a first degree with Honours. Other things being equal, preference will be given to applicants who have special qualifications in the study of the English Literature of the 17th, 18th. or 19th century. Salary: Senior Lecturer, EA2509 range £A3049 per annum. Lecturer. £A1779 range £A2484 per annum. Commencing salary will be determined by qualifications and experience. After passing a medical examination, successful applicants will be eligible to join the State superannuation scheme.
