M>MJC HOTICB CANTERBURY EDUCATION BOARD ADMISSION TO TEACHERS’ TRAINING COLLEGE SPECIAL ONE-YEAR COURSE APPLICATIONS, accompanied by DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE OF EXAMINATION PASSED, TWO TESTIMONIALS AND COPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE, are invited up to October 9, 1961, for entry to a Teachers’ Training College under a Special One-year Training Scheme. QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION: The minimum academic qualification for admission to this course will be the New Zealand School Certificate or some equivalent qualification. To be eligible for selection, applicants must be at least 25 years of age on February 28, 1962, In general the upper age limit is 40. COURSE OF TRAINING: Successful applicants .will be attached to the Teachers’ Training College at Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Christchurch or Dunedin. As far as possible applicants will be allocated to the College nearest to their homes, but it may be necessary ' for some applicants to accept admission to a more distant Teachers’ College. Successful applicants will be given a one year’s course in a Teachers' College which will be followed by a year as probationary assistants in the schools, in charge of small classes. On completing this course satisfactorily, trainees will qualify for the award of a Trained Teacher’s Certificate. BOND: Every trainee selected for admission to the Course will as a condition of his admission be required to enter into a Bond of £2OO to serve as a teacher in the Education Service for a period of at least two years immediately following the award of a Trained Teachers’ Certificate, or if he falls to render this service, to pay to the Public Accountant the sum of £2OO.
