Water Meters On Ponds The question of requiring water meters to be installed on fish ponds in Waimairi County will be left in the hands of the county chairman, the county clerk and the county engineer in future, with power to.act, according to a decision made by the council on Thursday evening. - The decision was made on the recommendation of the works and reserves committee, which had been told by the chairman (Mr J. I. Colligan) that it cost the council £lB 4s 7d to install a meter at a property with a small fishpond. The water consumption involved was probably not more than . about two gallons a week, he said, and a meter for so small a supply was not warranted. Mr Colligan agreed however, that there might be elaborate ponds with fountains in the county which would use a great deal more water than in the example he quoted. Shipping Telegrams AUCKLAND.
