RESPONSIBILITY IN ASIA
New Zealand And Australia
(N.Z, Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 22.
The newly emergent countries of Asia are looking to New Zealand and Australia for their new traditions, the Most Rev. Dr. Maximilian de Fursten-berg, Apostolic delegate to Australasia, said in Auckland today. “It is difficult for you to realise the influence you have over them,” he said. “They look to New Zealand and Australia as non-imiperialistic countries. “You have a tremendous lot to offer them with your background of Western and Christian civilisation.”
Archbishop de Furstenberg was appointed to his present position in 1959, but this is his first visit to New Zealand.
