Nelson Publication Of ‘Westport News’
(From Our Own Reporter) NELSON. September 22.
The •‘Westport News," printed and published in Westport for many years, will in future be printed in Nelson as from Monday next, the proprietors announced today. The decision was made, the report stated, on account of machinery limitations which hastened an urgent reappraisal of the capacity of the plant to handle an increasing volume of news and advertising. lit also intended to ensure that there is no further interruption to the life of the newspaper. The “Westport News” is to have full access to the daily teleprinter New Zealand and overseas news service provided by the New Zealand Press Association. The installation of the teleprinter circuit between Westport and the parent company is expected to be completed within 24 hours.
The “Westport News” will continue to be an evening daily newspaper, copies are scheduled to arrive at Kawatiri airport at 4.30 p.m. In the event of bad weather, motor transport will deliver the papers later the same evening.
