TIKORANGI OIL WELL
Product Conies To Surface (N.2 Press Association; NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept 22. Some product was slowly forcing its way to the surface from the third test interval at the Mangahewa No. 1 well, Tikorangi. today. Whether the product is gas, water or oil will not be known until the product is flowing from the well and samples taken. There had been some movement in the well overnight, said the drilling superintendent of Shell, 8.P., and Todd Oil Services, Ltd. (Mr P. J. Johansen), but he expected it would be some hours before the product was flowing to the surface. It was possible that the product did not have sufficient pressure to reach the surface. Swabbing operations to release the pressure of the test interval between 11,000 ft and 12,000 ft, are continuing. These involve the removal of an 11,000 ft column of water in the tubing, which runs from the surface to just above the tost interval. So far about 5000 ft. of water has been swabbed from the well. Today the well was left for two-hourly periods to determine the product’s rate of inflow.
