MR F. M. RENNER
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 22. The first headmaster of Rongotai College, Mr F. Martyn Renner, died in Wellington today at the age of 83. He was awarded the 0.8. E. in 1953 for his services to education, Heritage and United Nations’ work.
Born in Wellington, he attended Wellington College and entered Canterbury University College in 1896, where he obtained a master of arts degree with first-class honours in English. At the turn of the century he was appointed assistant headmaster at Wellington College. In 1928 he was appointed as headmaster of Rongotai College, a position he held until his retirement in 1946. Mr Renner then became interested in Heritage work and was also a foundation member of the New Zealand branch of the United Nations Organisation.
Mr Renner is survived by four sons.
