DEPUTATION TO P.M.

Work Stopped At Maraetai (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 22. A deputation from the New Zealand Workers' Union will see the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake* on Tuesday to discuss the future of the men affected by the halting of work on the Maraetai No. 2 hydro project. Tomorrow, the secretary of the union (Mr H. J. Allen', accompanied by the Government M.P. for Rotorua (Mr H. R. Lapwood) and the Labour M.P. for Onchunga (Mr H. Watt) will address a public meeting at Mangakino. About 1500 to 2000 people are expected to attend. Mr Allen said today thqt the union was especially concerned about the future of those men who had spent a lifetime with the Ministry of Works, who now had homes at Mangakino, and whose children's schooling might be affected by the sudden change-over.
