“Delegate” Leaves
(N-ZJ’.A.-Reuter— Copyright) NEW YORK, Sept 22. Mr Thomas Kanza, who was detained at Idlewild Airport after trying to come to New York as “Lumumbist representative” to the United Nations General Assembly, left by air for Paris yesterday on his way to Leopoldville. All he would say to reporters was: "I may be back ” Mr Kanza represented the Lumumbist faction at the last session of the United Nations when there were two Governments in the Congo. The United States State Department said that, as Mr Kanza admitted on arrival at New York on Tuesday that he was not a member of the recognised Congolese delegation to the United Nations, the immigration service had no choice but to refuse his admission to the United States. It added that he was free to leave the country when he chose.
