FOOTBALL POOLS
Minister “Not Interested” (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Sept. 22. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Gotz) was not interested “in the slightest” in the running of football pools in New Zealand, the chairman (Mr J. Kershaw) told a special general meeting of the New Zealand Football Association tonight. Mr Kershaw said N.Z.F.A. council members met the Minister today. Mr Kershaw reported that Mr Gotz was not against football pools in New Zealand, but he regarded the promotion of the "Golden Kiwi” lottery as his prime objective. “He will not digress into other forms of gambling.” said Mr Kershaw.
Football pools, said Mr Kershaw, had been an avenue from which the N.Z.F.A. had hoped to benefit.
