MOORE AND SMITH
Clash Rumour Denied
■ (N.Z P,A -Reuter—Copyright) SYDNEY, September 17 The Sydney jockey, G. Moore, failed to ride at Rosehill yesterday after rumours that he had clashed with the trainer. T J. Smith. Moore had been booked to ride six horses at yesterday's meeting—four of them for the Smith stable. Smith denied at Rosehill yesterday that he had argued with the jockey. He said Moore would .still be riding his horses. Yesterday Moore said he would make a statement on his position next week. He said he had been “off colour" for several weeks. He had not felt, “right up to the mark” last Wednesday when he won on Martello Towers at Newcastle
Moore’s solicitor said yesterday he had advised Moore not to make a statement on the reported clash between himself and Smith. Later in the day, a friend said Moore had gone to Hayman Island. Moore is the top rider for the Smith stable and also leading rider in the jockey's premiership. GERALDINE RACING CLUB ACCEPTANCES for First Day, September 25, will Close with the Secretary.
