S.I. HYDATIDS POST
Advisory Officer Appointed The National Hydatids Council has appointed Mr R. F. Forsythe, of Timaru, field advisory officer for the South Island. Mr Forsythe, who is hydatids inspector for the Levels County Council, will take up his appointment on December 1. His headquarters will be at Christchurch. The council said the appointment of a field advisory officer would strengthen the liaison between the council and local hydatids authorities. The officer would help the authorities to administer council policy on technical and other matters related to the eradication campaign. Mr Forsythe was born in Ashburton. He worked on the land before joining the Railways Department in 1937. After serving in the war he returned to railways work, leaving it in 1948 to join the Police Department. He was stationed at Timaru. He left the department in 1959 for health reasons, and became hydatids control officer for the counties of Geraldine and Levels. Mr Forsythe has owned and trained dogs for 20 years. He is a member of the South Canterbury Kennel Club and vice-patron of the South Canterbury Canine Obedience Club.
