EXERCISE FOR BOMBER

R.N.Z.A.F. Planes To Take Part (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 17. A Canberra bomber force representing the Royal New Zealand Air Force, the Royal Air Force, and the Royal Australian Air Force will fly to Darwin early this week to take part in an operational exercise which lasts until September 29. This was announced last week by the Minister of Defence (Mr Eyre). In the exercise which has been code-named “Night Glow 2,” the Canberras will exercise in the light bomber role. “The R.N.Z.A.F. will be represented by three Can. berras from No. 75 Squadron in Singapore,” said Mr Eyre. "These aircraft will be accompanied by three R.A.F, Canberras, also from Singapore, and a ground servicing teem which will be flown to Darwin by R A F. transports.” The exercise will provide all the squadrons concerned with invaluable training in the long-range deployment of bomber elements, said Mr Eyre. It would also provide the opportunity for the three British Commonwealth air forces to co-operate together and streamline their operational procedures.
