Eight Canterbury players are included in the South Island hockey team to play the North Island at Williamson Park on September 30. The team, which was chosen during the week-end by the selectors (Messrs J. Reece, convenor, B. Cox and R. Mackinlay) is as follows:-Goal-keeper: L. Quinton (Nelson); full-backs: J. Abrams, W. Brown (Canterbury); halves: R. Gillispie (Canterbury), J. Cullen, vice-captain (Otago). E. Barnes (Canterbury); forwards: B. Judge. N. Hobson, captain, I. Armstrong (Canterbury), J. Stirling (Nelson), N. Thomas (Canterbury). Reserves: A. Patterson, W. Thompson (Canterbury). The North Island team, which was chosen by Messrs L. Monteith, P. Spiers and R. Vercol is:— Goal-keeper: K. Henson (Wairarapa): full-backs: B. Turner, captain (Manawatu), I. Free (Auckland); halves: C. Robertson (Manawatu). E. Doble (Wanganui). R. Lapworth (Wellington); forwards: W. Mills (Waikato), W. Percival (Wellington), K. Percy (Wairarapa), W. Brasting (Wanganui), T. Blake (Whangarei). Reserves: L. Henderson (Manawatu), R. Irons (Wairarapa).
